5 Gentle Ways to Cope With Grief

Grief looks different for everyone. Some days may feel manageable, while others may feel overwhelming. There is no “right” way to grieve, but small acts of care can make difficult moments a little easier.

1. Give yourself permission to feel
You do not have to be strong every moment. Allow yourself to feel sadness, anger, confusion, or whatever comes up without judging yourself.

2. Take care of your body
Grief can be physically exhausting. Try to eat nourishing foods, drink water, rest, and move your body gently when you can.

3. Stay connected
Talking with someone you trust can help you feel less alone. You do not have to explain everything—sometimes simply having someone listen is enough.

4. Create small moments of comfort
A warm drink, a short walk, music, journaling, or sitting somewhere peaceful can give your mind and body a small break.

5. Be patient with yourself
Healing is not linear. Some days will be harder than others, and that does not mean you are going backward.
